Math 672: Projective Geometry I
In this class we will learn the basics of algebraic geometry, specifically in projective space, and learn how to think of geometric objects in terms of the functions defined on them, instead of in terms of the points that make them up. We’ll learn how to enumerate intersections of points, lines, planes, and curves with algebraic techniques, and how to understand properties of spaces, such as smoothness, via algebraic conditions on their rings of functions.
Lectures will be at 2 pm on MWF in Engineering building B-105.
